UNPAD & Taiwan Tech Unveil Fast, Energy-Efficient Supercapacitor Cathode—Advancing SDG 7 & SDG 9
A joint team from Universitas Padjadjaran and National Taiwan University of Science & Technology (Taiwan Tech) developed a simple, room-temperature electrodeposition route to make sulfur-doped cobalt–nickel hydroxide (CoNiS-OH) cathodes on modified nickel foam. Optimizing to five deposition cycles produced the best performance, while adding the surfactant CTAB strengthened the coating and improved long-term stability. The material delivers up to 5,655 F/g and 138.5 Wh/kg at 1 A/g; an assembled asymmetric supercapacitor (CoNiS-OH//AC) reaches 60.8 Wh/kg, 900 W/kg, and ~88% capacity retention after 10,000 cycles—offering a scalable pathway to affordable, high-performance energy storage
