Indonesian Team Advances Ion-Selective Nanofiltration for Cleaner Water (SDG 6) & Resource Recovery (SDG 12)
A collaborative team (Diponegoro University, UNPAD, ITS, and UPI) fabricated graphene-oxide/polyaniline (GO–PANI) thin-film nanofiltration membranes via in-situ polymerization. By tuning PANI redox states (EB, ES, PB), the membranes achieve larger interlayer spacing, stronger interfacial bonding, and improved mechanical/pH stability. The GO–ES PANI variant delivers top performance, reaching 98.45 ± 1.27% Al³⁺ rejection and ideal selectivity Na⁺/Al³⁺ = 76.23 ± 1.25, with stable operation in extended tests—supporting water purification and responsible metal recovery
